Send a dinner Invitation Liberty Bell Cafe World Class Philadelphia Restaurants with online table reservations Haydn Zug's Restaurant | Reserve a dinner table online Cuisine: American The Experience: Haydn Zug's Restaurant & Tavern serves American cuisine in an intimate colonial atmosphere. The first record of the Haydn Zug property dates back to 1852 when the restaurant was the site of the Stauffer General Store. The store passed from the Stauffer family to Levi Gochnauer, then to Haydn Zug, who operated a first-class general store until his death in may, 1967. Haydn Zug was a well-know, colorful personality in the East Petersburg area. With his bar and general store below and rooms above, he ran a successful operation for many years. In 1969 the store was purchased from the Zug estate and transformed into a restaurant, keeping with the former owner's name in tribute to this distinctive figure. The present owners, the Lee Family, continue the tradition of classic American cuisine with an intimate colonial atmosphere. Appetizer options include Sea Scallops wrapped in smokehouse bacon and Clams Casino-the house specialty. Several pastas change daily and are available in full and half portions. Entree specialties include Medallions of Tenderloin Chesapeake with a crabmeat & lobser sauce, Lancaster Country Smoked Pork Chops with fresh horseradish sauce and a Grilled Atlantic Salmon with maitre d'butter. All entrees are accompanied by a vegetable and their famous Saratoga potatoes.
